ASEAN RISK ASSESSMENT CENTRE FOR FOOD SAFETY (ARAC) SEMINAR 2020, 23 NOVEMBER 2020
ARAC in collaboration with ASEAN Health Cluster 4: Ensuring Food Safety (AHC4)was organised the ASEAN Risk Assessment Centre for Food Safety (ARAC) Seminar 2020 with the theme of Risk Assessment on Food Contaminant In ASEAN on 23 November 2020 virtually. The objectives of this seminar are to strengthen mechanism of information sharing on food safety risk assessment work among ASEAN Member States (AMS), support capacity building on risk assessment as well as increase the visibility of ARAC.
The Seminar was officiated by the Chair of AHC4, Dr Anie Haji Abdul Rahman from Brunei Darussalam and featured ten presentations from renowned and reputable speakers from AMS under the AHC4, Scientific Panel of ARAC, Indonesian Risk Assessment Center (INARAC), Thailand Risk Assessment Center (TRAC), and Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The Seminar also attended by the AMS representatives from AHC4, ASEAN Prepared Foodstuff Product Working Group (PFPWG), ASEAN Sectoral Working Groups for Crops (ASWGC), ASEAN Sectoral Working Groups for Fisheries (ASWGFi), ASEAN Sectoral Working Groups for Livestock (ASWGL), Scientific Committee Member of ARAC, ARAC Secretariat, EU ARISE Plus and ASEAN Secretariat – Health Division.
During the Seminar, participants were presented with the video of the history on how the ARAC was established, where it’s involved a lot of people from ASEAN Member States and EU ARISE.
